The Blazing Crew 2008! (well most of us anyway, you just can't pin us all down at the same time!!)
Welcome to the Home of the
Avocado Dreamboat and the
Forbidden Fruit Salad!
Blazing Salads has been operating at
the Oregon Country Fair for at least 34 years! We are a group of
folks who get together once a year to make fresh fruit and green salads
and
have an amazingly good time doing it! See ya at the Fair.
Blazing Crew Folks
Go to the crew folks page to get details and update your work schedule, contact info, etc.
See 2006 photos that Carissa took. They are at an online service that you need to sign in to in order to look, but then you can order prints right from there too, pretty cool.
See photos from the 2004 Fair If you have cool photos, send them to me, I'll put them up.
How do I join the Blazing Crew?
It takes an amazing amount of people to serve fresh fruit and green salad from sunup till the wee hours of the night. To find out how to work at Blazing Salads, send Jill an email. I try and figure out who is coming to the fair by April 15th for camping passers and by June 15th for day passers.
to talk about getting on the crew for '08!
Day Passes
We are almost always looking for folks who want to work as a day pass person, we usually have a crew of 25-30 or so day passers. This means you come to the fair during the day, work for 4 hours anytime between 6 am and 7pm. You can come for one day, or several and then you would camp off site, like with the crazy boothies at Zumwalt, or across the street at Darlings Reunion. We will pay for your admission into the fair, give you food and a place to hang your hat while you are running around the fair.
Camping Passes
We distribute our precious 24 camping passes and 12 teen passes (ages 13-18) on the following list of priorities.
•
All folks who receive a camping pass must come to work for our booth from Wednesday before fair through Monday cleanup.
•All folks who receive a camping pass need to work at least one an early morning shift, or a late night shift or be a crew leader.
•
Everyone is asked to work a minimum of 6 hours a day. (Teen pass folks are asked to work for 5 hours.)
If we have more folks wanting camping passes that meet the above criteria, then decisions are made based on the on the following criteria.
• Seniority, folks who have come before get priority. The more years you have come, the higher your priority.
• Folks who help with prefair shopping/cooking and post fair cleanup also get priority.
• Only folks who have been coming 10 years or more can apply to bring a guest.
