Food Handlers Cards

We are a food booth and serving food that is safe is incredibly important to us. Serving it in the dusty, outdoor environment of the Country Fair makes it even more important that we are ALL diligent in knowing proper and safe food handling procedures. If you have a food handlers card in either Washington or Oregon, great, please bring it along so we can post it for the health inspector. If you don't, and if you plan to be a crew chief or head chopper, it would be great if you could get one before the fair!

Luckily for you Lane County has made it incredibly easy and put the manual and the test online and it only costs $10! Blazing Salads will gladly reimburse you the cost of the test. So what are you waiting for? (Just email Jill that you did it and she will get you moola at the fair.) Set aside 20 minutes, go to the website, read the manual, set yourself up as a user and take the test. Who knows, you may learn a few things that apply to keeping your own kitchen safe, as well as those thousands of happy fair goers who eat at Blazing Salads. You can pay online and print out your card at the end of the course on your home computer. Now how cool is that??

FOOD HANDLERS ONLINE CERTIFICATE COURSE

Registration Info:

Here are some general procedures for getting registered, parked and into the fair.

Here are DIRECTIONS TO THE FAIR

If you are arriving Wed. or Thurs. you must enter the site from Suttle Rd. You should park wherever they tell you to, and go to the registration booth out in the parking lot. Registration will be open 9am to 10pm on Wed. and Thurs. Lines can be super long, so bring friends and water.

IMPORTANT !! at the registration booth they will ask your for my name so they can pull the Blazing Salads packet, so remember Jill Carter. Make sure you are standing in the Food/Craft Booth lines, instead of the entertainment or worker crew lines.

Don't forget to have picture I.D with you at registration!!!

Once you have your wrist band and a vehicle sticker on your car and your car is properly parked in a spot it can stay for the fair (Out of Site or Trotters Field) you can haul your stuff in. We will have our wheelbarrow for use since you will usually wait forever to get a peach cart. No one is allowed into the figure 8 from Wed. on without a pass of some sort (day pass or wrist band).

Parking:

I have tried to get as many people as possible to carpool and we can only spread the 12 vehicle stickers we have around so far, so please coordinate with Jill if you still have room in your car. Don't forget to move your car to whatever lot they tell you to park in, once you have your Vehicle Sticker, don't want to end the fair realizing your car was towed!

Things to remember to bring:

• John says, don't forget your flashlights, those toilets are pretty scary in the dark and it seems like lots of people don’t bring ‘em. The little kind like Mini-Mags that you can put on a string around your neck or the pocket LED kind are great!!
• Think about rain, it always seems to come in the middle of the night, so make sure you bring ground tarps and a rain fly for your tents and something a bit warm. For the most part it is great weather at the fair, but it can get nippy at night!
• Bring a food plate, cup, bowl, etc. We have lots you can use too, but it's nice to not have to use all the paper up all the time and sometimes we run out of extra bowls.
• Towels and supplies for the Sauna/Showers.
• Cell Phone Charger. We will have a car battery setup and plugs for several models, but if you have a car charger for your phone, and want to get juiced during the fair, bring it and we can hook you up.
• Mosquitoes are always a big issue, especially Wed, Thurs and early Fri. so bring whatever poison suits you.
• If you can make music, bring it along and entertain us at the Dusty Martini.
• Comfortable shoes! It is amazing how tired your feet will get moving around on the uneven surface of our booth floor, so make sure to bring something you will be comfortable in.
• Don't forget to bring your beautiful smiles, your playful natures and fun hats.
